3. Natural resources and wildlife reserves

For a small country Nepal, it is incredibly diverse. However among three geographical regions of Nepal, Terai is the richest habitat in the land with tall grasslands interspersed with riverine and hard wood Sal forest. Here we can see wildlife such as blue bull, swamp deer, musk deer, black buck, the royal Bengal tiger, Gharial and marsh mugger crocodile and the last of the breed of Asiatic wild buffalo. Some of the wildlife reserves found in Nepal are Koshi tappu and parsa in the east, Sukla Phanta and Dhorpatan for hunting in the west and Shivapuri in the mid-mountain region.
Likewise national park is another point of attraction in Nepal. Royal Chitwan national park located in the inner Terai of central Nepal is the first and best protected area in the kingdom. There are over 450 species of birds in the park. Common birds seen in the park include the peafowl, red jungle fowl and different species of herons, kingfisher, and woodpeckers. Some other national park found in Nepal are Khaptad national park, Langtang nation park, Sagarmatha(Everest) national park, Shey-phoksundo national park, Rara national park, etc.
